Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Makhana (fox nuts)

  • 1/2 apple (finely chopped)

  • 1 cup curd (dahi) (chilled, whisked smooth)

  • 4 soft dates (deseeded, soaked in warm water)

  • 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder

  • Pinch of sendha namak (rock salt)

  • 1 tbsp chopped almonds or walnuts (optional)

  • Few pomegranate seeds or mint leaves (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Roast the Makhana
Dry roast in a pan on low flame for 4–5 minutes until crispy. Cool completely.

  2. Prepare the Dates Paste
Soak 4 dates in warm water for 10 minutes. Blend into a smooth paste.

  3. Make the Curd Base
Whisk chilled curd until smooth. Add the dates paste, cumin powder, and rock salt. Mix well.

  4. Assemble the Salad
Add chopped apple, roasted makhana, and nuts (if using) into the curd mix. Stir gently.

  5. Garnish & Serve
Top with pomegranate seeds or mint leaves. Serve immediately to retain the crunch.

Storage Tip:

For best texture, consume fresh. If storing, keep curd mix and makhana separate. Combine just before serving.
